Alan Gauntner started training at Kent State University in the spring of 1984.  The black belts running the club were Charles Haynes, and Anthony Floyd.  Alan has always been a fine karate practitioner.  He was in and out of training due to work, or staying home with his son, while Heidi Gauntner went to the dojo.  Alan tests for his Shodan on April 21st 2001.  This was 17 years after his beginning the art.  He presently helps in teaching classes at the dojo as well as continues his personal development in Isshinryu Karate.

Alan is a licensed Teacher of technology Do to school cut backs he has been laid off from several School districts during the past 3 years. He is presently working on his Masters Degree in Technology at Kent State University. He is of great support to the Dojo. Although he is the Chief Owner of the Dojo his wife is the Chief Instructor.

As the Husband to Heidi, Alan has had to sacrifice his training to help support Heidi in her endeavors. Heidi knows that she could not be all she is without the support of Alan. Alan is the engine of the Dojo. doing all the work to keep things moving smoothly.

In the summer of 2000 Alan chose to begin running the Dojo Full time. Adding an After School Program and offering day time classes.  He enjoys teaching.
