Alan Gauntner,
Ni-dan Test Date April 2007
Alan
Gauntner started training at Kent State University in the spring of
1984. The black belts running the club were Charles Haynes, and
Anthony Floyd. Alan has always been a fine karate
practitioner. He was in and out of training due to work, or staying
home with his son, while Heidi Gauntner went to the dojo. Alan tests
for his Shodan on April 21st 2001. This was 17 years after his
beginning the art. He presently helps in teaching classes at the
dojo as well as continues his personal development in Isshinryu Karate.
Alan is a licensed Teacher of technology
Do to school cut backs he has been laid off from several School districts
during the past 3 years. He is presently working on his Masters Degree in Technology
at Kent State University. He
is of great support to the Dojo. Although he is the Chief Owner of the
Dojo his wife is the Chief Instructor.
As the Husband to Heidi, Alan has had to sacrifice his training to help
support Heidi in her endeavors. Heidi knows that she could not be all she
is without the support of Alan. Alan is the engine of the Dojo. doing all
the work to keep things moving smoothly.
In the summer of 2000 Alan
chose to begin running the Dojo Full time. Adding an After School Program
and offering day time classes. He enjoys teaching.
